Fire crews from across East Devon sped to Sidmouth for a simulated rescue at a seafront hotel.

The Royal York and Faulkner is currently undergoing its annual refurbishment so owner Sara Hook offered the premises for the exercise.

Crews from Sidmouth, Seaton, Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth and Exeter’s Danes Castle strapped on their 10kg breathing apparatus and entered the basement to rescue seven ‘casualties’.
