Gale-force winds are expected to lash Sidmouth this afternoon as remnants of the storm that brought severe snowfall to the US hits the UK.

Gusts of more than 40 miles per hour are expected to hit the town this afternoon, with further high winds and rain predicted late tonight (Tuesday).

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain for the whole of Devon, which will be in force until 3pm tomorrow (Wednesday).

Experts say a further bout of heavy rain is expected tonight and will last until tomorrow morning.
