The Ottery Tar Barrels are lit once more See our picture special
It was a perfect cold crisp November evening for the World famous Ottery St Mary Tar Barrels on November 5th. Thousands of people crowded the narrow streets to watch the fiery spectacle which dates back generations. The children of the town started off proceedings as the first barrel was lit at 4pm on Canaan Way with barrels continuing throughout the evening until the final Midnight Barrel held in the town square.
