Hundreds of youngsters enjoy long-standing Easter tradition
The popular Sidmouth tradition of handing out hot cross buns to children on Good Friday once again proved a hit with families.
Hundreds of youngsters headed to the Bedford Lawn Car Park in the sunshine - and the event was so popular organisers were worried thet might run out of goodies to gove away.
Organising committee president Michael Wood and secretary Tony Perram have now both completed over 30 years at the helm of the colourful event and are gratified that its popularity continues to endure since its inception during a bakers’ strike a century ago.
Festivities were opened by Ian Skinner , the president of Sidmouth Lions’ Club, which donated £125 to the fund.
The local Waitrose Store gave £200 through its green coins appeal, while other funds were raised in collecting boxes througout the town.
