HUNDREDS of slice of pie were consumed by hungry visitors to Branscombe WI's All-Day Pie Feast last weekend. In total 42 pies were gobbled up on Sunday and an impressive £600 was raised. More than 20 people spent the run-up to the event in the kitchen baking an array of delicious pies, which obviously went down a treat. Sandi Clark, president, said: "It is the first time we have held an all day pie feast and we are very pleased that it worked so well. There was a good mix of tourists, people from other towns and villages and local village people." Last year around £300 was raised and Sandi hailed the day a success. All proceeds will go to the National Federation of Women's Institutes, which has run campaigns for many good causes over the years. Branscombe WI will also give £100 to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
