HUNDREDS of slice of pie were consumed by hungry visitors to Branscombe WI's All-Day Pie Feast last weekend. In total 42 pies were gobbled up on Sunday and an impressive 600 was raised. More than 20 people spent the run-up to the event in the kitchen baking an array of delicious pies, which obviously went down a treat. Sandi Clark, president, said: "It is the first time we have held an all day pie feast and we are very pleased that it worked so well. There was a good mix of tourists, people from other towns and villages and local village people." Last year around 300 was raised and Sandi hailed the day a success. All proceeds will go to the National Federation of Women's Institutes, which has run campaigns for many good causes over the years. Branscombe WI will also give 100 to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
