A new development of 15 homes will be built in Newton Poppleford if plans win the backing of district chiefs.
An application has been submitted for 10 open market and five affordable two- and three-bedroomed houses on land off Down Close, part of which used to be an orchard.
The 0.8-hectare, relatively steeply sloping site is surrounded by an overgrown hedgerow and a number of mature trees framing the field from the village.
The developers are looking to minimise the impact on the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by constructing low-level, mostly single-storey buildings, orientated to minimise energy consumption.
East Devon District Council will decide the application.
