Plymouth fan Kym will go red if he loses bet with son

A dedicated Plymouth Argyle Football Club fan from Sidbury may have to switch his allegiance to his team’s biggest rivals if he loses a bet with his son.
Dad-of-two Kym White, 47, says he will do the unthinkable and support Exeter City for the rest of the season if a Facebook status he posted last Tuesday received 1,500 ‘likes’ before today (Wednesday, December 23).
Kym, of Burnt Oak, wrote: “My bet with my son - as you all know I’m a green and white through and through, but if I get 1,500 likes by Christmas Day, I’ll buy a red and white shirt and go red a white for the rest of the season. No chance of that happening...happy Christmas son...”
Kym’s 12-year-old son Jake has supported Exeter since the pair went to a home match against Portsmouth last year.
They have been to two derbies this season and Kym noted that, if he loses the bet, he will be joining Exeter City fans in the home end of St James’ Park for the Plymouth match on Saturday, April 2.
Kym, who is a firefighter based at Exeter airport, said: “I get a feeling it will happen, but we will have to wait and see. If it happens, then May cannot come round fast enough.”
The 47-year-old said the bet was for fun as many of his friends also support Exeter City, adding: “It has gone round the Exeter City fan club group. If they get 1,500 likes, it is going to be quite embarrassing - but I will do it.”
Kym said he would also donate £50 to the East Devon Grecians fans’ group to thank it for taking him and Jake to football matches.
Kym has followed Plymouth since he was a child after his dad took him to a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the side he supported.
