A Sidmouth runner will remember his best friend during his latest race on Sunday.

Bill Valentine, 66, will be tackling the same route he completed 12 years ago with his late running partner John Peratt, who died in October following a battle with prostate cancer.

Manstone Avenue resident Bill will start with a 300-metre swim in Exeter University’s pool, before running 2.5 kilometres around the campus.

He hopes to complete the course in under 37 minutes.

Bill said: “I will be thinking of John as I’m running and he will be cheering me on.”

Novice swimmer Bill took on his first aquathon last month.
