Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision in Sidford which left a 65-year-old pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services were called to Church Street in Sidford at 6pm yesterday (Thursday) after a Vauxhall Corsa car-derived van was in collision with the man.
The Sidmouth-based man sustained serious injuries to his head and body.
He was flown by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The driver, a 41-year-old man from Seaton, was uninjured.
Part of Church Street was closed for six hours while officers from the police serious collisions investigation unit carried out a forensic examination of the scene.
Road diversions were in place.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact them on 101, quoting log number 579 of 16/04/15.
