Police are appealing for a driver to come forward after a woman was injured in a collision on a zebra crossing in Sidmouth.

PCSO Phil Thomas said: “At about 6.05pm on Tuesday, May 23, a female pedestrian was using the crossing outside the Woolbrook Road garage.

“While on the crossing, a male driver described as 70 years old braked at the last moment and the front of his vehicle struck her on the legs, causing her to fall on the bonnet.

“She sustained what are believed to be minor injuries to her legs and shoulder.

“The driver gesticulated to her and drove off.

“The vehicle is described as a beige- or gold-coloured Vauxhall saloon.

“Police are appealing for the driver to come forward as an accident report is required to be completed.

“We are also appealing for any information to identify the driver.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote log 814 of May 23.
