THE POLICE are asking homeowners and businesses who have CCTV installed on their properties to come forward and help them solve crimes.
The police are hoping to develop a network of contacts and have appealed for owners of CCTV in East Devon to let them know where they are.
A police spokesperson said: "Crimes and incidents can occur anywhere around our homes and business premises. CCTV can give the best evidence available where crime and disorder has been committed.
"All we are asking is that anyone with a CCTV system protecting their home or business gets in touch. A small number of people have already agreed to take part in the scheme but we would like the coverage to be extended."
