Police encouraged by low crime
Police say they are encouraged by low crime levels in Beer and Branscombe as statistics for November are released.
There were no recorded incidents in Branscombe last month, and only three minor crimes reported in Beer.
This compares with one crime in October in Branscombe, and one crime for November 2010.
In Beer there were no crimes in October, but November’s total is down from five in the same month last year.
On November 12, three males were involved in a public order offence in Beer after they attended a residential address and banged on the door trying to speak to the occupier, crime reference nu,ber is KN/11/449.
Between the 18th and 9th last month a shed was broken into by the fish shop, but nothing was stolen (reference KN/11/457), and there was also an incident of theft after the aggrieved party arranged to have some CCTV cameras sold for him, the person failed to do so, and as yet has not returned the cameras (reference KN/11/4460).
Across the entire Seaton Rural patch there were less than half the average crimes for November, and compared to this month last year crime is down by 27 per cent, and down by 33 per cent from October.
Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Steve Speariett said: “November’s total of eight crimes for the month is the lowest since at least 2004, and the average for November has been 17 crimes in that period.
He said the totals are very encouraging, but did request for help following the theft of a quad bike, registration number WJ55MEV, from three buildings which were broken into in Colyton.
PC Speariett added: “The offenders would have needed a substantial vehicle to take the bike away and we would ask you to record any suspicious vehicles you see and pass the details onto the police straight away.”
