SEX offenders who prey on children will be targeted by a new police scheme launched today.
Concerned residents can seek information on the criminal past of individuals as part of the initiative.
Devon and Cornwall Police says its Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme has been implemented so that a parent, carer, guardian, or another interested party, can check the background of someone who has access to their children.
“If they have such convictions and pose a risk of causing serious harm to the child or children, then this information may be disclosed,” said DCI David Thorne. “It will hand power to members of the public.”
