CAR owners in Ottery have been urged to ensure they lock their vehicles and remove all valuables following two thefts earlier this month.

Thieves smashed the front-side passenger window of a VW Polo in North Street and took a stereo system worth more than £120 in the early hours of November 4. A Tomtom satellite navigation system was also taken from a vehicle in Windrush Rise.

PC Phil Thomas said the incidents were unusual for Ottery and urged residents not to leave anything of value in their cars, especially with Christmas coming up.
