The third Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival was launched at Kennaway House on Saturday – with many events already fully-booked.

Alistair Handyside, vice-chairman of the Eat Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty group, cut the ribbon to officially open this year’s event.

The festivities got off to a swing with music from Sidmouth Ukulele Strummers, who played a special request of These Boots Are Made for Walking. Refreshments were supplied by Devon Kitchen Deli, with help from East Devon Ramblers serving tea and coffees.

The six stages of the 40-mile East Devon Way walks are fully booked, but there are still places for strolls tomorrow (Saturday) and on Sunday. Learn about Jurassic geology on a short walk starting at Beer tomorrow, or join the family-friendly Nature Safari at Seaton Wetlands on Sunday. Details of these and other walks can be found on the Sidmouth walking festival Facebook page or from Sidmouth Tourist Information Centre.
