POLICE are investigating the smashing of a large laminated safety window at Sidmouth Post Office in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The single-glazed window, measuring 10 feet by nine feet, was smashed at around 1.15am on August 9 "by unknown means" said PC Amanda Drake, who said no entry was gained to the premises.

She said police were not sure if it had been accidentally broken or deliberately smashed in a bid to gain entry to the Post Office.
