An evening of glitz and glamour netted nearly £1,200 for charity when the silver screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey made its dazzling debut in Sidmouth.
The sell-out showing had high expectations and organisers Karen Tanner and Alison Dart said no one left disappointed.
Ladies were welcomed at the Radway Cinema with some red carpet treatment before being led into the auditorium by Sidmouth Scaffolding’s Alec Latham, Sam Waring and Gavin Balue for a glass of fizz.
A raffle alone took £400 before the tickets ran out, then an auction for Sam to do any odd jobs brought in another £80 – with Alex and Gavin also pledging their time to the lucky winner.
“I only need to add that please be assured that during the auction no scaffolding member of staff was harmed,” said Polka owner Karen.
“A sincere thank-you to all those that came to support us on the night along with a huge thank-you to Tracy and the Sidmouth Scaffolding team, Amanda and her staff members at the cinema and all of my friends and family who helped behind the scenes to make it such a fabulous evening!
“As for the film, well all I can say is, when’s the second one being released?”
The £1,196 takings have been divided equally between Sidmouth Hospiscare and Hospiscare. Exeter.
