AN expectant mum of the feathered variety has been getting the VIP treatment at Otter Nurseries this week.
AN expectant mum of the feathered variety has been getting the VIP treatment at Otter Nurseries this week.
Staff at the Gosford Road garden centre discovered a nesting blackbird atop two eggs in a trolley of plants in a busy section of the site last week.
They have since taken to cordoning off the trolley to ensure she isn't disturbed or frightened away.
Staff member Anna Childs said the bird is yet to be named but her and fellow colleagues were doing their best to ensure the environment is as safe as possible.
She said: "It's definitely the most prominent nest we've ever had."
The nurseries has become a hotspot for broody birds in recent months according to
with scores of swallows and sand martins also setting up home in its grounds.
