Quality craft on offer

QUALITY was the name of the game at a craft fair in Sidmouth on Saturday.
St John Hall, Blackmore Drive, was decked out with 12 stalls manned by East Devon craftspeople. There was glass and silver jewellery, pottery and ceramics, stained glass ornaments and mirrors, prints of Sidmouth and reclaimed driftwood products on sale. MIchelle Flower manned a papercraft stall, Roger Hann sold seascapes, and woodturner Sue Gillings displayed her wares. Liz Sharples, of Busy Lizzies craft and plant shop in Newton Poppleford, launched her new range of wire jewellery. It had only been available in the shop previously.
“All of the crafters are local people who make good quality products,” she said. “We had a good day, there was a mixture of local people and visitors and a nice buzzy atmosphere.
“The jewellery went down really well. It’s always a bit nervewracking when you launch something new, but it got a good response.”
The quality crafters will be hosting another fair at the Sidmouth venue on Saturday, September 18, 10-am-4pm. For a taste of what will be on offer, visit Bizzy Lizzies, in Exeter Road.
