DELIGHTED Poppy Appeal leaders have issued a heartfelt ‘well done Sidmouth’ after street collections bagged £15,437.

The bumper Royal British Legion total is £3,000 more than the previous year’s haul.

Sue Pink, Sidmouth Poppy Appeal co-ordinator, hailed the amount as “magnificent.”

She said: “Again, I would like to thank all those kind Sidmothians who gave their time to act as collectors, counters, or those who helped in other ways.

“That said, it would be remiss of me if I didn’t acknowledge all the other residents and visitors who gave so generously in order to achieve this very significant sum.”
