Ham play area transformation continues with delivery of concrete rock climb

KIDS in Sidmouth will soon be able to climb a cliff-face.

Not the real red rocks of Sidmouth, but a purpose-built red concrete climbing rock, which was installed at the Ham play area on Wednesday.

Some £40,000 has been allocated to transform the area and the rock; with two elevations, one offering a harder challenge, was on the wish-list of local children.

Marcus Reader of Hags Play Ltd., was there to oversee the craning in of the 9.5 tonnne, 3.6m high rock, as was Nick Struthers-Frost, technical officer for East Devon District Council, who is working with Sidmouth Town Council over the project.

The finished play area will be officially opened on Sunday, July 24, at 11am.
