Successful Olde Tyme Fayre at Tipton St John

An Old Tyme Fayre in Tipton St John raised £3,300 for local churches and was a great success, despite having to be relocated at short notice.

As we reported in last week’s Herald, a group of travellers camping in the car park had contaminated the school field where the fete was due to be held.

In case the land could not be cleaned in time for the event, the organisers arranged to move it to the grounds of Sundial House.

This meant the residents of the care home could enjoy the fayre too, and the villagers in costume went in to show off their outfits to anyone not able to walk around outside.

Mike Smith, the chairman of the fete, said there was a lot of re-organising to do and the event had to be laid out on a completely different site, but the weather stayed fine and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
