WITH plans for a 1am finish for the Late Night Extra at Bulverton FolkWeek site dashed this week, organisers faced the dilemma of solving the problem.

A decision by East Devon District Council's Licensing and Environmental Health departments to stop the performance at midnight could have scuppered the event.

Now the Sunday show will go on, thanks to a swift re-shuffle of performers.

And, says John Dowell from the FolkWeek team: "Everyone wins."

Cornish folk group Dalla were to perform earlier that evening at Bulverton, while in Blackmore Gardens Poisson Rouge from France were offering Breton and French folk numbers.

Now Mr Dowell has arranged for both to join forces and perform together at Blackmore Gardens to give the Late Night Extra group Asha a longer session at Bulverton - from 8pm to midnight instead of 11-1.

"I think it is a good compromise," said Mr Dowell. "The Cornish and French bands have been trying to arrange gigs together for the last 18 months. It will be a fantastic gig."
