SIDMOUTH and Ottery St Mary residents and businesses will have the chance to comment on important local planning issues next week.

The East Devon Local Development Framework (LDF), which will replace the current Local Plan, determine how the developments proposed in the Regional Spatial Strategy 2006 - 2026 might be delivered by East Devon District Council.

The Issues and Options Consultation Report, Planning for the Future, sets out issues identified as being of greatest local importance and possible options as to how EDDC might respond to them.

One-day public exhibitions, at which relevant sections of the report, maps and illustrative material will be available, will be held in Sidmouth Library, Blackmore Drive on Monday, January 19 from 10.15am to 5.45pm and Ottery's Institute in Jesu Street on Wednesday, January 21 from 9.30am to 5.15pm.

EDDC staff will be on hand with questionnaires for residents.

The proposed new community at Cranbrook and a possible second new urban extension are issues open to debate.
