Residents stride out for RNLI

BEER residents stepped out for the Seaton, Beer and District RNLI branch’s 34th annual sponsored walk, pictured.

Participants started at Woodhouse Lane, near Uplyme, and went along the East Devon Way, footpaths and lanes to Musbury, then Colyton, Colyford and Seaton.

Walkers did the six miles to Colyford or eight to Seaton. Fourteen adults, three children and five dogs took part, raising approximately 500.

Branch secretary Wendy Cummins, from Beer said: “It is 33 years since my first sponsored walk in aid of the RNLI along with Sue Lockyer, daughter of former late secretary Barbara Harding. This one of our favourite routes and was done in 1994 and 2004.

“It was a perfect sunny day for walking and there were spectacular views across and up the Axe Valley from Musbury Castle and also down in the direction of Beer Head. It wasn’t too muddy except for a section of foorpath between Whitford and Colyton.”
