Return for popular Sidmouth bridge classes

BRIDGE classes will return to Sidmouth this month after the game was again left out of local authority education plans.
Sidmouth Bridge Club began teaching in the town two years ago after the activity was among several leisure subjects dropped by Devon County Council.
Since then, more than 90 people have attended classes, held at Sidmouth Rugby Club, and many have joined the club to play regularly.
Teacher Ken Rowe, who has taught the game to hundreds of Sidmouth students over the past 12 years, said: "The response has been most encouraging. Sidmouth is a place where bridge is very popular and there is always a demand from people who want to learn to play. It's a challenging game but great fun, and a great way of meeting new friends."
