SIDMOUTH Bridge club has invited both beginners and improvers at the card game to join in a new programme of lessons starting in September.

The new courses begin on September 17 at Sidmouth Rugby Club after a popular stint last year saw calls for a return.

The club stepped in to organise teaching of the game after long running local education authority classes were axed. Changing grants and a reorganisation of adult education has led to many leisure courses being cut but the Bridge has escaped the cull.

Teachers Vivien Peters and Ken Rowe hope to see those who attended last year's classes build on their skills and also welcome absolute beginners.

Mr Rowe said; "It is very rewarding to see how much people enjoy learning and how many new friendships are made. Many of the students have been playing in one-another's homes throughout the summer."

Call Ken Rowe on (01404) 43259 or e-mail kenrowe@wynford.eclipse.co.uk for information.
