CAMARADERIE shone through at Beer's Film Society spectacular last week.
The indoor street party, which launched the Society's 2008/09 season, was attended by both locals and holiday makers who certainly got into character with an array of fancy dresses on show.
The revellers were entertained by a Beer has Talent competition and a uniformed Emily Warren on the ukulele and piano.
Singers, Simone Breckell and Joanne Sneddon, entertained the crowd with such favourites as We'll Meet Again and The White Cliffs of Dover.
The true singsong nature of the time was re-enacted with the audience joining in with rousing renditions of Second World War songs and rationed food was back on the menu with a selection of spam and corned beef sandwiches, homemade soups and bread puddings to name but a few.
The main event of the night was the showing of the film, Hope and Glory, introduced by Chris Gradwell who worked on the film.
Martin Cox, chairman of Beer Film Society, said: "There were more than enough people there to make the night a success and everybody got involved in the community spirit."
"I would like to give a big thanks to those who contributed to the fun on the evening and those who helped to organise it."
As well as numerous fund raising events, members of the Society and local residents, together with the Parish and County Council, donated sums of money to fund the purchase of the new projector which was used.
Beer Film Society's new season begins in October and Mr Cox is looking forward to seeing new and old faces. Application forms to join the society are available at Beer Post Office.
