NEARLY £2000 was raised in the annual Beer Lifeboat Week and street collections this year.

Seaton Beer and District Branch of the RNLI collected £1100 from three annual street collections at Beer, Seaton and Colyton.

Over £800 was raised during Beer Lifeboat Week including £473.76 from the third annual duck races at Beer Brook, £247.24 from two coffee mornings and £102.25 from a quiz night hosted by Beer Social Club.

A further £2200 was raised at the Axe Yacht Club's open weekend in August.

Wendy Cummins, secretary of Seaton Beer and District Branch said: "We thank all our volunteers and supporters plus those who donated items, cakes, prizes or sponsorship for the events in Beer Lifeboat Week."

Their next event is the annual ten mile sponsored walk on Sunday, November 2. The route begins in Sutton Thorn and ends in Colyford. Sponsor forms and further details will be available from the end of September by ringing (01297) 23040.
