THERE is no doubt that the people of Sidmouth are up for a party.

THERE is no doubt that the people of Sidmouth are up for a party.

Some 66 of the 100 tables allocated for the royal wedding street party on Friday, April 29, have already been sold.

At a meeting of Sidmouth Chamber of Commerce’s street party committee on Tuesday, more plans were finalised for entertainment during the celebrations, which start at 4pm and end at 7pm.

Popular soprano Val Howels has kindly agreed to perform, suitably attired in red, white and blue, the theme colours for the occasion.

So too has the championship winning Sidmouth Town Band and the town’s own Frank Symington.

Other ideas are in the mix and being kept under wraps for the time being.

Sarah has bought a vintage carriage to mark Prince William’s marriage to Kate Middleton and has laid out her own street party table with a selection of themed paper tableware and paper bunting.

Sarah said: “I wanted to create something for charity. It is just a bit of fun and if people are putting the effort into going for the British street party theme they can come and see the goods on display.”

She will be giving a Union Flag away to everyone who visits the shop during April “to celebrate the royal wedding in style.”
