NEWLY-crowned King of Chit, Russell Bess, was delighted to take up the regal role after being chosen by the Golden Goose.
“It’s a great honour,” said self-employed electrician Russell, 48, of High Street, Sidford, after he was crowned at The Swan Inn - the home of the tradition.
“It’s all done in good humour,” added Russell.
“We’ve got to keep these traditions going. It was a complete surprise, but I’m happy to do it.”
One of Russell’s first duties was to present Black Rod fishing awards at the Swan Inn, where he is a regular, on Sunday.
