An Ottery eatery has received top honours in an award scheme aimed at championing the best food and drink the South West has to offer.

The Rusty Pig is one of just 16 restaurants in Devon to bag a prestigious gold prize in this year’s Taste of the West awards.

The Yonder Street restaurant and charcuterie was opened in 2011 and is now a popular choice for locals and visitors alike.

Owner and head chef Robin Rea said: “We are delighted to have achieved gold as this is based on a variety of criteria including local sourcing, quality, atmosphere and value for money.”

The restaurant will now go forward to the Taste of the West awards ceremony on September 29, where the ‘best of’ winners will be announced.
