Musical harmony has helped Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society (SADS) to raise £5,000 for the town band.

The groups worked together on the recent production of Brassed Off at the Manor Pavilion.

SADS has presented a cheque to the band to go towards its search for a new rehearsal space.

Director Joan Heard said: “I felt privileged to direct this play eleven years ago and would never have believed that we could repeat it so spectacularly in 2017.

“With a cast of talented and dedicated actors, the fantastic musicians from Sidmouth Town Band and the highly skilled SADS creative team, the production played to packed audiences all week.

“I would like to thank the whole team for their support and hard work and say how pleased SADS are to have worked again with the Town Band to stage this powerful play about the lives of working miners and their colliery bands.”
