Audiences flocked to the Manor Pavilion Theatre to see Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society (SADS) perform A Chorus of Disapproval.
The show ran from Wednesday, October 12 runs until Saturday, October 15.
A strong local cast of 18, under the expert direction of Cherine Hill, features the wonderful singing and acting of Adam Owen-Jones, the comedy of Sandria Stewart and the pathos that Karen MacGarvey brings to her role as Hannah.
John Nelson is the lead as Dafydd ap Llewellyn, the director of the Pendon Amateur Light Operatic Society.
John Griswold is Mr Ames and the impressive list also included Leigh Steedman, Dave Ballinger and many more.
A Chorus of Disapproval is Alan Ayckbourn’s hilarious and well-observed take on the world of amateur operatics.
The story follows Guy, a recent widower, who joins the cast of the Pendon Amateur Light Operatic
Society (PALOS) to make new friends. He encounters a mad cap Welsh director, wife swapping, dodgy business deals and romantic interludes.
The rehearsals progress, with some of the fine songs and music from The Beggar’s Opera, interlinked with the lives of the PALOS members, until the conclusion of the play with their opening performance.
