SANTA arrived in style for the opening of his grotto at Otter Nurseries on Saturday, in a horse drawn carriage accompanied by Cinderella.
While waiting for him, the crowds were kept amused by the Ugly Sisters. Mrs Claus’ washing machine had broken so she couldn’t make it, but her sister Doris stepped in. Renowned for her terrible cooking – her favourite ingredients are marmite and pickle - she welcomed children to the grotto from her kitchen.
Nurseries owner Marilyn White said: “All the children loved meeting Santa.
“We are particularly grateful to Doris for standing in at the last minute, although I do worry about her cooking. Watch out if you pop into visit Santa and are offered a mince pie by her, as who knows what it will be like.”
Doris will be welcoming youngsters to Santa’s grotto on Saturday and Sunday until Christmas Eve. Grotto tickets are 3.99 per child and include a present and badge.
