More than 130 people packed into The Institute to help raise £800 for Ottery Scouts with a special pub quiz.
The local group is still looking for cash to fund a £90,000 renovation project at its Winter’s Lane headquarters, and said it was very pleased with the turnout.
There were 24 teams pitting their wits against the quiz master and Scout Leader Chris Evans, but it was Sporting Chance, from the Colin Tooze Sports Centre, who won out. “Everyone from the Scout Group, including leaders and members of our fund raising group pulled together on this project, which made the evening a real success”, said John Green, 1st Ottery Scouts group leader.
The quiz was the first of a number of major fundraising events taking place as the scouts make a final push to reach their target.
