SIDMOUTH’S ‘ludicrous’ seafront pedestrian crossing should be reviewed by highways bosses, according to a town councillor.

Ann Liverton told colleagues the feature on The Esplanade should be discussed.

She said, at this time of year, it was ‘ludicrous’ and questioned how much pollution was coming from ‘backed-up’ traffic caused by people ‘ambling across’.

“Surely there must be some way of controlling that crossing,” said Councillor Liverton, who asked for the matter to be referred to the town council’s Traffic Management Group.
