A MASSIVE 7,078 was handed to Breast Cancer Care by the Clay family this week - the fantastic result of their charity football match in April.

"It was way more than we expected," said Tim Clay, who organised the event in memory of his wife Ann, who died of breast cancer last September.

"It is amazing. Initially we thought it would raise about 500, then it got bigger, but we never thought we would make over 7,000."

Brothers Danny and Ben Clay captained the two teams - Danny leading the Exeter City All Stars and Ben Sidbury United.

Some 1,200 attended the match, played at Sidford, and Tim praised all those who helped organise the event, particularly Mel and Dawn Coombs.

Residents were particularly supportive of the fundraising football match, with one living in Byes Lane providing tea and coffee for people for donations.

Grecian Dean Moxey could not join the celebrity line-up but played an important role on the day by pulling out winning tickets for the prize draw.
