UP TO 1,000 lambs will be sheared in a shearing competition to be held at Ashtree Farm, Newton Poppleford, on Sunday, August 24.
"People come from all over," said Graham Hill, shepherd to Lord Clinton of Clinton Farms, which runs Ashtree Farm.
He said the event, which also includes a dog trial for up to 40 dogs, was started after the 2001 foot and mouth outbreak prevented shearing competitions at Devon County Show.
An autumn event was organised and was an instant success.
Devon County Show organisers are heralding the event as a family day out and people are welcome to watch competitors show off their shearing and dog handling skills.
