Ship shelters off Sidmouth during Saturday's storms

THREE people made 999 calls to Portland Coastguard on Saturday afternoon after a ship was seen drifting close to Sidmouth.

THREE people made 999 calls to Portland Coastguard on Saturday afternoon after a ship was seen drifting close to Sidmouth.

Identified as the vessel Michigan Highway, coastguards contacted the ship and crew confirmed there was nothing untoward and it was drifting while taking shelter from storm force winds.

They confirmed they were proceeding to Torbay to continue taking shelter before continuing their passage to Santander.
