HANDS-ON youngsters got mucky when they helped tidy-up an overgrown pond to boost Sidmouth in Bloom.
Scores of 1st Sid Vale Scout cubs spent two evenings at the Lower Knapp spot last week.
“The pond was extremely clogged with silt and weeds and needed urgent attention,” said Sidmouth in Bloom chairman Lynette Talbot. “The cubs enjoyed getting muddy and wet, and did a sterling job clearing the pond of dock and weeds.”
Younger cubs were shown how to plant young foxgloves and carried out seed sowing along hedges in the area.
“All of us had a great time,” added Lynette.
