Year seven pupils from the primary schools at Sidbury, Sidmouth and St John’s spent some time at Connaught Gardens, planting flower beds.

Sidmouth in Bloom (SIB)organised the activity which allowed the children to try their hands at planting the walled garden behind the bandstand.

Lynette Talbot, of SIB, said the schools had been involved with helping out at Connaught Gardens for more than 18 years.

She added the weather was lovely and the young gardeners were keen to see their plans for the plot come to life.

Lynette said: “These links are important for the town and encourages pride of place within the parks.”

East Devon District Council’s Streetscene were also on hand to help and provided the flowers.
