Sidmouth Lifeboat, Sidmouth RNLI and the club’s new project Sea Safe received a share of the money from the club’s gala dinner.
Sidmouth Lifeboat and the RNLI have received a £3,800 boost following a successful gala dinner.
The Sid Valley Rotary Club organised the event, which featured Exeter Chiefs’ head coach Rob Baxter as guest speaker.
Rotarian Tim Smith, who helped organise the evening, said he was grateful to local businesses that sponsored and donated prizes for a grand draw and auction. He added: “Without the generosity shown by local businesses, the event could never have happened. Your money will be put to good use.”
Sidmouth RNLI chairman Ed Harrison and Sidmouth Lifeboat chairman John Fowler expressed their gratitude.
Guy Russell, senior coxswain of Sidmouth Lifeboat, gave a talk on the evening with colleague Marie Cooke.
The club also donated £1,900 to its new project Sea Safe.
At the presentation, Rotary president Sally Wilcox said the project will be launched in the summer and has been designed to educate young people about water safety.
