PROPOSALS to give Sidbury s Caravan Club a makeover have been backed by town council planners.

PROPOSALS to give Sidbury's Caravan Club a makeover have been backed by town council planners.

Owners of the site on Putts Corner want to replace 20 existing grass pitches with all-weather incarnations so they can be used safely in all conditions.

At a meeting last week, councillors on Sidmouth Town Council's planning committee supported the plans which state no ground of archaeological importance or trees will be damaged if they become a reality.

The Caravan Club also feels improvements will offer better access to people with mobility problems after inclement weather has left existing pitches unusable.

The plans will now go before East Devon District Council for a final decision to be made.
