THE annual St Giles Harvest Festival service at Sidbury, takes place on Thursday, September 17 at 7.30pm during Sidbury Fair week.

THE annual St Giles Harvest Festival service at Sidbury, takes place on Thursday, September 17 at 7.30pm during Sidbury Fair week.

Preacher at the special service for the farming community in and around the Sid Valley area is the Reverend Dr Gordon Gatward OBE, director of Arthur Rank Centre and chairman of the Farm Crisis Network.

The Arthur Rank Centre is a charity supported by churches, the Royal Agricultural Society of England and the Rank Foundation and serves the rural community and its churches.

Farm Crisis Network is a network of volunteers from rural areas and churches which offers support to farmers and their families.

The Reverend Rik Peckham, vicar of St Giles, said: "The collection from this service will be presented to Farm Crisis Network.

"Everyone who is interested in the current farming situation is welcome to come to this service.
