Sidbury pupil aids sister after duck race win
Katie, 10, gives half Sidbury duck race prize to Cystic Fibrosis Trust
WHEN young Katie Gilbert, 10, a pupil at Sidbury Primary School, won Sidbury Fair’s duck race, she knew what to do with some of the 100 prize.
“Before the race she told me she would, if she won, give half to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust,” said mum Jennie, whose older daughter, Sophie, 12, suffers from the condition.
On Tuesday Katie handed over 50 to her grandmother, Liz Brown, of Oak View, Honiton, who founded the Honiton branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and holds regular events to raise money for it.
Jennie, who is training to be a teaching assistant at Sidbury Primary, said: “Katie is very generous and very concerned about Sophie and her needs. Her friends at school were hoping she would win.”
