VANDALS caused damage to the grounds of Sidbury Primary School last weekend.

Staff found paint and sand scattered near the foundation stage when they arrived on Monday morning. The lid of a water tray was also snapped in half.

Now people are being urged to stay off the land outside of school hours.

Paul Walker, head teacher, said: "Obviously anybody entering our site out of hours is a worry, more so when they cause damage.

"Although minor, it caused an inconvenience, wasted resources and meant staff had to spend time tidying up.

"This affected our foundation stage outside play area and we now have a paint stain on the surface."

He added: "We are aware that some people do come onto the site, mainly innocently probably playing on the field etc.

"We have asked people to stay off the site as they are not supervised, but also they could attract others whose intentions may not be so well meant."

Police are appealing for information following the damage which occurred sometime between 5.30pm last Friday and 8am on Monday.
