Funding will help high-achieving Luke Spiller to continue his studies

A horticulture student from Sidbury has won a scholarship to help fund his continuing studies.

Luke Spiller has just completed a Level Two Horticulture course at Bicton College and has now received the £1,500 sponsored scholarship from the South West Growers Show, the region’s leading trade show for commercial horticulture, by way of the David Coleman Foundation.

He is now working towards his Level Three standard at Pershore College, in Worcester, where the funding will help pay for accommodation and a qualification in using machinery in public.

Luke, who was top practical student on his Bicton course as well as being a nursery worker and gardener, said: “I am very grateful for this scholarship from the South West Growers Show. This is going to help me to progress and expand my horticultural knowledge even further. This kind gift will change everything for me allowing me to become more qualified and become a better horticulturalist.”
