A big breakfast in Sidford Social Hall netted a ‘fantastic’ £1,150 for Force Cancer Charity.

Organisers Barbara and Brian Poole had a band of very willing helpers who made Saturday morning a great success to exceed last year’s total.

Barbara said: “Café owner Sarah Mallett again produced an amazing breakfast with the help of her mother Jane and friend Sally. Not only did they give their time working so very hard in the kitchen but donated a large amount of food. Hamilton Garage, in Sidford, also made a large donation and there were some donations from people not able to come and enjoy an excellent breakfast. The 120 eggs and a huge box of tomatoes all went to help raise this money.”

She also had help from Sidford Women’s Institute and members of the hall committee, who made no charge for hiring the venue.

Force trustees Jeremy Roberts and David and Jean Cantle attended the event.
